Course FAQ

Specific to this program.

Do I need to know programming to join?

Basic programming familiarity is helpful, understanding loops, functions, and variables. Linux shell scripting (covered in Module 1) is the most important skill, and it is taught from scratch. Prior experience with any language is an advantage but not required.

What is DevOps and how is it different from development?

DevOps combines software development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops) to shorten the development lifecycle. Developers write code; DevOps engineers build and maintain the pipelines, infrastructure, and automation that get code from a laptop to production safely.

What is CI/CD and why do companies need it?

CI/CD stands for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment. CI automates building and testing code on every push. CD automates deploying tested code to environments. Without CI/CD, software teams rely on manual deployments that are slow, error-prone, and risky, every modern software company uses CI/CD.

What is the difference between Docker and Kubernetes?

Docker packages an application and its dependencies into a portable, isolated container. Kubernetes manages hundreds or thousands of Docker containers across a cluster: scheduling, scaling, healing failed containers, and managing networking. You need Docker to create containers; Kubernetes to run them reliably at scale.

What is Terraform and why is it important?

Terraform is an Infrastructure as Code tool that lets you define cloud infrastructure in configuration files and provision it automatically. Instead of clicking through the AWS console, you write code, making infrastructure reproducible, version-controlled, and auditable.

Can working professionals join?

Yes, and DevOps is especially popular among working developers and sysadmins looking to transition or upskill. Batch timings are confirmed at your free demo.

What jobs can I get in Pune after the DevOps course?

DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Build & Release Engineer. Fresher salaries in Pune range from ₹4 LPA to ₹10 LPA based on the company and skill depth.

What is the fee?

The course fee is discussed during your free demo call. We offer flexible payment options. Contact us to know more.

Does this course cover AWS or Azure?

Both are covered at an operational level: AWS EKS for Kubernetes and AWS S3 for Terraform remote state in Module 3; Azure DevOps pipelines (intro) in Module 2. For deep cloud architecture, TechSummitTrainers also offers dedicated AWS and Azure courses.

How is this different from the Full-Stack Java course?

The Full-Stack courses include DevOps as a final module, enough to deploy the applications you build. This standalone DevOps course goes much deeper: 16 full weeks dedicated to Linux, CI/CD, containers, orchestration, Terraform, and monitoring, with 4 dedicated DevOps projects. It is designed for people who want DevOps as their primary career.

Is Linux required knowledge before joining?

No. Module 1 starts with Linux command line from the beginning, file system, permissions, process management, and shell scripting. No prior Linux experience is required.

What certifications does this course prepare me for?

The course covers concepts aligned with the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, and HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification tracks, with mock tests and exam prep in the final module.

What Is DevOps and Why Has It Become the Standard Software Delivery Model in Indian IT?

DevOps is the combination of cultural practices, tools, and automation that enables software organisations to deliver applications and services at high velocity. Before DevOps, development teams and operations teams worked in separate silos: developers wrote code, threw it over the wall, and operations engineers deployed it manually. The result was slow releases, frequent production failures, and finger-pointing between teams when things went wrong.

DevOps eliminates those silos by integrating development and operations workflows through shared tooling, automated pipelines, and a culture of shared ownership. Indian IT companies, both service firms running DevOps transformation projects for global clients and product companies shipping to international markets, have adopted DevOps as the universal standard. The DevOps engineer role is now one of the most consistently in-demand positions in Pune's IT job market, with demand growing faster than the available talent pool.

What Is CI/CD and Why Do Companies Need a Dedicated DevOps Engineer to Build and Maintain It?

CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery) is the automation backbone of modern software delivery. Continuous Integration means every code commit is automatically built and tested, a developer pushes to a Git branch, and within minutes they know if the change breaks any tests or fails any quality checks. Continuous Delivery extends this by automatically deploying successfully tested code to staging environments, and Continuous Deployment goes further by automatically releasing to production. The result: teams that previously deployed every few months can safely deploy dozens of times per day.

Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines requires expertise across multiple tools, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or Azure, and an understanding of software testing, security scanning, artifact management, and deployment strategies like blue-green and canary releases. This is not skills a developer picks up incidentally; it is a full-time engineering discipline, which is why the DevOps engineer role exists separately from the developer role.

What Is the Difference Between Docker and Kubernetes, and Why Do You Need Both?

Docker and Kubernetes solve different problems in the container ecosystem. Docker is the tool that creates containers: a Docker container packages an application and all its dependencies (libraries, runtime, configuration) into a single portable image that runs identically on any machine. Docker Compose extends this to multi-container applications. The problem Docker does not solve is managing containers at scale, when you have 50, 500, or 5,000 containers spread across a cluster of servers, you need something to decide where each container runs, restart it if it crashes, scale it up under load, and route network traffic to it.

Kubernetes is the container orchestration system that handles all of that. It schedules containers across cluster nodes, monitors their health, automatically replaces failed pods, scales deployments horizontally based on CPU or custom metrics, and manages service discovery and load balancing. Together, Docker and Kubernetes form the foundation of how virtually every modern cloud-native application is deployed, and both are core skills in this course.

What DevOps and Cloud Engineering Jobs Can You Target After This Course in Pune?

  • DevOps Engineer, The primary role: owning CI/CD pipelines, container deployments, infrastructure automation, and the developer experience at a software company.
  • Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), The Google-originated discipline of applying software engineering to operations: building systems that are measurably reliable, with defined SLAs and automated incident response.
  • Platform Engineer, Building internal developer platforms (IDPs) that abstract cloud complexity away from development teams, using Kubernetes, Terraform, and internal tooling.
  • Cloud Engineer, Designing, building, and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP, often as part of a central cloud platform team.

Fresher salaries in Pune for DevOps roles range from ₹4 LPA to ₹10 LPA based on the company type and depth of cloud skills. Working professionals transitioning into DevOps from development or sysadmin roles often command salaries at the higher end or above that range from day one.
